Workshop on the identification and classification of services measures for Lao services Portal (LSP) took place on 29-31 May 2018, at Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Saysana Sayakone, Director General of the Department of Foreign Trade Policy, in two separated sessions (one and a half days per a session), with the representatives from line ministries and concerned sectors for more than 57 persons were actively attended to the said workshop.

Workshop on the identification and classification of services measures for Lao services Portal (LSP) took place on 29-31 May 2018, at Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Saysana Sayakone, Director General of the Department of Foreign Trade Policy, in two separated sessions (one and a half days per a session), with the representatives from line ministries and concerned sectors for more than 57 persons were actively attended to the said workshop.

The overall objective of the workshop is to inform all line ministries and concerned sectors about their obligation as performing the role of LSP’s focal points; to upgrade the effective capacity and skill in respect of identifying and classifying the services measures; and to ensure that all information available at the portal is accurate and remains up to date.

The lecture was conducted in English, by Mr. Giulio Zanetti, a World Bank expert, to instruct participants on how to identify and classify of services measures through the table/matrix with 10 columns, each column shows different information as follows: Column 1: Name of responsible institution; Column 2: Legal Instrument; Column 3: Reference; Column 4: Measure Name; Column 5: Measure Description; Column 6 Measure Type; Column 7 and 8: Dates (start and end); Column 9: Service Sector; and Column 10: Comments.

Overall, the participants were interested in the lecture. They raised various questions to discuss with lecturer actively. Furthermore, they were also involved in the learning process and practices on identifying and classifying the services measures from substantial legal instruments.
